Ms. Deanda's fourth graders are working on increasing their reading skills. Their task this morning was to read passages with similar topics, but written in different genres. They then were tasked with making connections between the texts. But before they got to work this morning they had to check their student gmail accounts. You see, their work was sent to them by electronic mail.
In RRISD this year, all students in grades 2 through 12 have access to student Gmail accounts. Google Apps for Education are being used throughout the district by teachers and students alike. Documents can be created and shared as well as worked on collaboratively. Students email back and forth with teachers and can submit their work into shared virtual folders. Teachers can post links to documents stored on the web which student can access from school or home or anywhere they have access to the internet.
The fourth graders at Deep Wood are enjoying using technology to support their learning.
