Students who read ten or more of this year's Bluebonnet books were in the library today competing in our campus Battle of the Bluebonnets, moderated by Deep Wood librarian, Stephanie Inzana. Students used Turning Point hardware and software to participate in a quiz over the 20 Bluebonnet Award nominated titles. The top six students will represent Deep Wood Elementary at the district-wide Battle in March. Congratulations to everyone who took part! Lots of great fun and lots of great books and reading!
First graders at Deep Wood Elementary spend some intervention time on the netbooks logged into their Istation accounts for personalized reading practice and learning.
In August of 2012, Istation was awarded a contract from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) under Texas SUCCESS to provide free and unlimited access to its Istation Reading program for all students in grades 3 through 8 across the state of Texas.
Istation Reading has been proven effective in maximizing students' reading fluency, comprehension, and retention. Its computer-based format is interactive, engaging, and fun.
